Dates: Saturday May 27th and Sunday May 28th, 2023

Location: Cliff Mine and Central Mine in Keweenaw Peninsula, Upper Peninsula, Michigan. Nearest large city is Houghton (30-45 minutes away).

Field Trip Itinerary: We will be spending one day at each mine. I can also offer one night (or multiple) to look for fluorescent sodalite on beaches.
Minerals you can find include: copper, datolite, calcite, silver, covellite, hematite (and others)

Costs: $30 per person per location to have piles bull dozed. If trip is full (25 members) cost will be $25.

Important Info: The annual limit for collecting rocks on state-owned and public trust lands is 25lbs per year in Michigan.

Tools/Equipment:
Buckets or containers, rock hammers and picks, boots, sunscreen, hats, gloves. Longwave UV light needed for collecting sodalite. Metal detector is also useful.
