Field Trips

Field Trips are one of the most important benefits of Club membership and one of our most popular features. They combine the joy of discovery with hands-on education. Many trips are suitable for children (although not all–each individual trip will list the age range that is allowed).

Application

Early January 2022

An email will be sent to the entire club membership with a link to a Google Forms application. If you wish to attend the Colorado field trip, please fill out the form and submit. **Please be aware that filling out and submitting the application does not guarantee a spot on the trip.**

February 1st, 2022 at 5:00pm CT – The deadline to submit an application for the Colorado field trip.

Lottery

February 19th, 2022 General Membership Meeting

The initial seven (7) member names will be drawn at random from applicants who have 4WD high clearance vehicles.

The initial seven (7) names drawn will be members with either single or family memberships. A name drawn with a family membership will be allowed 2 spots (1 spot for the name drawn and 1 spot for the other adult listed on the family membership) on the trip, if they wish. It will be possible for 7 to 14 spots to be filled during this initial name drawing.

March 18th, 2022

This is the deadline for those whose names were drawn at the February meeting to confirm they will be attending the field trip. If someone backs out, another applicant with a 4WD high clearance vehicle will take their spot (as determined by lottery at the March 19th, 2022 General Membership Meeting).

March 19th, 2022 General Membership Meeting

The remaining spots will be drawn. Those drawn will need to either have a 4WD vehicle or be able to carpool with someone already drawn. If the total reaches 19 people, the remaining spot will be filled by a single applicant.

If by the end of the March 19th meeting there are less than 20 total attendees, sign up will open to first-come, first-served to anyone who pays the trip fee and is able to have access to 4WD high clearance vehicle (driving or carpooling).

April 16th, 2022 General Membership Meeting, by the end of the meeting

This is the deadline for names drawn at the March 19th meeting to have confirmed they will be attending.

This is the deadline for ALL confirmed attendees to have paid the $150 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit.

If anyone at the end of April 16th meeting has had their name drawn but has NOT confirmed and/or NOT paid, their spot will be open on a first-come, first-served basis until all spots have been filled. Those wishing to take an open spot will need to pay the trip $150 deposit when they sign up.

After the April 16th General Membership Meeting – If the trip is full, those who wish to be placed on a waiting list for ‘last minute’ cancellations should let Ben and Jen know.

The application portion of the sign-up process is now open! An email has been sent to all current members with a link to the application. See above for a detailed explanation the two part sign-up process for this trip.
